Mary Elizabeth Tice

HAMMONDSVILLE - Mary Elizabeth (Joy) Tice, 78, of Hammondsville, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away holding her husband's hand and surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at Sienna Woods in Wintersville.

She was born November 24, 1936, in East Liverpool. She grew up in Wellsville, the last of ten children of the late Charles and Martha Hazel (McElfresh) Joy. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death in 1965 by her precious son, Ronald Tice, Jr., and in 1998 by her precious granddaughter, Cheyenne Autumn Smith. She was also preceded in death by five sisters: Clara Jones, Nancy Rhodes, Donna O'Rourke, Gladys Barber, and Patricia Kidder, as well as four brothers: Earl, Larry, Charles, and Wilbur "Jim" Joy.

Known and loved by her family and many who knew her in the community, Mary was retired from Homer Laughlin China Company.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Tice, Sr., whom she married November 19, 1957; two daughters: Kimberly (Jeff) Smith of Calcutta and Suzuanne (Mike) Hassan of Wintersville; and one son: Charles (Julie) Tice of Toronto. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Miranda and Brandon Smith and Jacob and Zachary Hassan; three great-grandchildren: Sierriah and Ambrianna Smith and Nathaniel Hackney; and one great-great-granddaughter: Gracelyn Autumn Smith.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 7, 2015, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Lytle of Hope Christian Fellowship Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Hammondsville Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
