Michael F. "Mike" Cook, Jr.

WELLSVILLE - Michael F. "Mike" Cook, Jr., 52, of Wellsville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh from an apparent heart attack.

He was born September 5, 1965, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Patricia "Patty" (Comparetto) and Michael F. Cook, Sr.

Mike graduated from Wellsville High School in 1983. He was currently employed as a case worker for Comprehensive Behavioral Health in East Liverpool. Mike was a member of the Wellsville Elks Lodge #1040 and a former member of the Wellsville School District Board of Education. He also coached girls basketball and was a referee for baseball, softball, and girls basketball. Mike was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians, and he never missed a Wellsville Tigers football game. He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church.

Survivors include his wife, Christina "Chris" (Swogger) Cook, whom he married June 27, 1992; two daughters: Courtney Cook and Lexis Cook, both of Wellsville; one brother, Tom Cook of Coppers Cove, TX; two granddaughters: Gabby and Khya Cook; one brother-in-law, Bob Swogger and his wife, Tope, of Wellsville; nieces: Kayla and Sophia Swogger; and nephew, Justin Swogger. Mike also leaves behind a large, close extended family.

The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the Wellsville First Christian Church officiating.

Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 pm Saturday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Roberts Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
