Mike J. Provenzano

WELLSVILLE - Mike J. Provenzano, 94, of Wellsville, passed away Friday, August 3, 2018, at East Liverpool City Hospital.

He was born January 2, 1924, in Wellsville, the son of the late Guiseppe and Jennie (Kalisha) Provenzano. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death on June 22, 2018, by his wife, Joyce (Fraser) Provenzano, whom he married June 5, 1965. He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Lucy DaLonzo, Katherine Tomaine, and Rose Henry.

Mike attended Wellsville High School. He served in the United States Army from 1943-1946 during World War II, and he was honorably discharged as a Corporal. He was employed for forty-two years as a conductor and engineer in the transportation department for the former Crucible Steel Mill before retiring in 1982. Mike was a member of the Wellsville American Legion Post 70, Wellsville VFW Post 5647, and Wellsville Sons of Italy Lodge 657. He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Rosemary Merriman of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; and one son, Michael Provenzano, Jr. and his wife, Deborah, of Tallmadge, OH. Also surviving are five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and four nephews: Frank, Rocco, Joe, and John DaLonzo.

A funeral service for both Mike and Joyce will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Roberts Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Kopp of Holy Trinity Parish and Pastor Irv Hoover of Wellsville First Christian Church officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery where the Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors.
