Oda Mae Howell

Fort Worth, Texas - Heaven gained an angel on June 14, 2016, when Oda Mae Howell, 91, crossed through Heaven's Gate to her eternal reward.

She was a faithful servant and role model for her family. Oda Mae was born on April 14, 1925, to Frank and Dora (Freeman) Schmidt in Wellsville, Ohio. She married Raleigh "Russ" Howell on May 23, 1945. Their union was blessed with a son, Ronald Howell, of North Richland Hills, Texas, and a daughter, Sharon Hughes Kidder, of East Liverpool, Ohio.

She graduated from Wellsville High School in 1944. Oda Mae and her family were very active in the West Point Nazarene Church for many years until she and Russ moved to Georgia, where they lived for 34 years. In 2006, they moved to Texas to be close to their son. Those meeting her in Heaven include her parents, her beloved husband Russ in 2010, cousins whom she helped raise: Mary Crews and Clyde Schmidt; her sisters: Minnie Mouse and Lyndora Farnsworth; and her brother: Frank Schmidt.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son: Ronald (Bette) Howell; her daughter: Sharon (Jeff) Kidder; grandchildren: Amanda (Davin) Martin, Rusty Hughes, Karon (Chris) Allaire, Sara Hughes, and Shelly (Alex) Howell; great-grandchildren: Brendan and Abbie Martin, and Annabelle and Faith Allaire; and many other relatives and friends whom she loved with all her heart as well as her many friends in Ohio, Georgia, and Texas who are too numerous to list.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Brown of the Lisbon Nazarene Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
