EAST LIVERPOOL - Ralph C. Unger, 89, of East Liverpool, died Monday, December 13, 2010, at his home, where he was under hospice care.

Born August 4, 1921, in Leechburg, PA., he was the last of eight children born to the late Edward and Nora (Lynch) Unger.

Ralph was a 1942 graduate of East Liverpool High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He retired in July of 1980 as a Motor Inspector for the former Crucible Steel Mill, where he worked for 40 years.

He was a member of Saint Aloysius Community Parish.

Ralph was preceded in death on August 1, 2005 by his wife, Margaret (Gorrell) Unger, whom he married August 10, 1951. In addition to his wife and parents, Ralph was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include one daughter: Amy Amato and her husband Vince of East Liverpool; one son: Steve Unger and his wife Suzanne of Canton, Georgia; four grandchildren: Robert and Lindsey Unger and Katelyn and Michaela Amato; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, December 18, 2010, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Father Peter Haladej of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
