WELLSVILLE - Richard "Dick" Leatherberry, 89, of Wellsville, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Dick lived a life full of passion, kindness, and dedication to his family, friends, and community. Dick worked as a Lineman at AEP for 36 years where he made many friends and memories. He was born on July 22, 1935, to the late Albert and Anna Mae Leatherberry, and grew up in West Point, Ohio where he became a beloved figure to all who knew him.

Dick's love for his family was immeasurable, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He especially looked forward to Sunday dinners at the home of his daughter Amy, son-in-law David, and grandsons Anthony and Christian. These gatherings were a source of joy and connection that kept the family strong.

An avid collector, Dick spent many happy hours pursuing his passion for Hot Wheels, amassing an impressive collection over the years. His attention to detail and love for nostalgia were reflected in this hobby, which also became a bridge to friendships with others who shared the same interest. A familiar sight around town, Dick was often seen walking his dog, Spike, a loyal companion who brought him great comfort and joy.

Dick was also a regular presence at the local American Legion, where he enjoyed visiting with his friends and sharing stories and laughter. His warm personality and generous spirit left a lasting impact on everyone he met. You could always find him on Friday mornings at Rogers Sale.

In the end Dick was still a jokester and loved to make everyone laugh, especially the staff at Crossroads and Calcutta Health Care, never failing to make them smile.

Dick is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Jean (Hughes) Leatherberry, and his daughter, Debbie Leatherberry. He is survived by his daughter, Amy Jo (David) Steff of East Liverpool, Ohio; daughter, Kathy Lynn (Jon) Fox of Lisbon, Ohio; grandsons: Justin Hughes of Portland, Oregon, Christian (Breann) Steff of Lisbon, Ohio, and Anthony Steff (Emma Dieringer); great-granddaughter, Mila Hughes of Vancouver, Washington; nephew, Michael Leatherberry; and very close friends: William Bratt and Jerry Medley. Also, a special thank you to Judy Miller, Pastor Dirk Hall, and Steve Newlan for their countless visits and prayers. As Dick entered the last chapters of his life, we wanted to extend thanks to all the staff at Crossroads, Calcutta Health Care, and Southern Care Hospice Services.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Highlandtown Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary contributions be made in Dick's name to The Living Well Church, 403 17th Street, Wellsville, OH  43968.

Dick will always be remembered for his loving heart, his unwavering devotion to family, and the countless memories he created with those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, forever cherished in the hearts of those he left behind.
