EAST LIVERPOOL - Robert Thomas Barber, 77, of Lisbon Street, East Liverpool, died Saturday morning, June 22, 2013, at his home following a lingering illness.

He was born July 27, 1935, in New Cumberland, WV, a son of the late Ivan "Bud" and Sylvia (Thomas) Barber.

Bob attended Chester High School and was a member of the East Liverpool Masonic Lodge.

One of his greatest enjoyments was camping at Terrace Lakes over the past 21 years. He loved sitting around a good campfire, listening to the guitar music and enjoying the fellowship of the other campers.

Bob retired as a weigh master/clerk from the Lafarge Sand and Gravel Corporation in Newell, after 35 years of service.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Buddy Barber and Ronald Barber.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Jidge" (Smolinsky) Barber, whom he married May 6, 1956; one son: Thomas "Goober" Barber of East Liverpool; one sister: Elaine Green and her husband Dick of Calcutta; two grandchildren: Brett (Tonya) Barber of East Palestine and Dena (Dan) Oliver of Brookville, OH.; four great grandchildren: Skylar Barber, Kendel Barber, Mila Barber and Henry Oliver.

He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family and friends whom he loved and cared for deeply.

No visitation or funeral services are planned.

Bob's wishes were to have a celebration of the good times that he experienced with his family and friends around a big campfire with singing, guitar playing, stories and fellowship.

The Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville was entrusted with Bob's care.
