Robert G. Halfhill

WELLSVILLE - Robert G. Halfhill, 73, of Wellsville, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at East Liverpool City Hospital following a sudden illness.

He was born August 17, 1941, in Wellsville, the son of the late John and Sarah (Hargreaves) Halfhill.

Bob served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962 during the Berlin Crisis. He was honorably discharged as a Sargeant. He was employed for thirty-five years in the coal field, most recently as a beltman for Windsor Coal Company, before retiring in 2000. Bob was a member of Wellsville First Christian Church. The joy of his life was spending time with his family and helping others, as well as being a servant of The Lord in his work at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Smith) Halfhill, whom he married April 6, 1962; four daughters: Kimberly Halfhill-Noon of Wellsville, Julie Garner and her husband, Rob, of Wellsville, Robin Schwerha and her husband, Greg, of Calcutta, and Starr Ensinger and her husband, Mike, of Wellsville; and one brother: Bruce Halfhill and his wife, Rachel, of Tennessee. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Justin, Kylee, Jared, Alexis, Nathan, Khloe, Braydan, and Madeline.

Bob was preceded in death by one sister: Roberta George; and two brothers: Jack and David Halfhill.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, July 6, 2015, at the Wellsville First Christian Church, 831 Main Street, with Pastor Mark Blakeley officiating.

Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Tri-State Burial Group.

Friends may call from 10:00 am-12:00 pm Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Bob's name to Wellsville First Christian Church, 831 Main Street, Wellsville, OH 43968.
