Ronald J. Taggart

WELLSVILLE - Ronald J. Taggart, 78, of Wellsville, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Allegheny General Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born September 9, 1938, in Wellsville, the son of the late Jay W. and Evelyn I. (Miller) Taggart.

Ron graduated from Wellsville High School in 1956. He was employed in sales/customer service at the former Sterling China Company for 33 1/2 years before retiring in 1989. He then worked for 18 years as a tour bus driver for East Ohio Lines before retiring in 2007. Ron was a member of Highlandtown United Methodist Church, Highlandtown Volunteer Fire Dept., Highlandtown Grange, Columbiana County 4H, Wellsville Elks Lodge 1040, and Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce where he served as past president.

Ron is survived by his wife, Janet (Smith)Taggart, whom he married August 16, 1957; two sons: Scott Taggart and his wife, Angela, and Greg Taggart, both of Wellsville; two brothers: Dean (Jane) Taggart of Highlandtown, and Curtis (Judy) Taggart of Salineville; two granddaughters: Shannon (Denny) Orr and Erin Taggart; three grandsons: Joshua Taggart, Grant Blazer, and Austin Morris; and one great-grandson: Brantley Orr. Also surviving is Ron's brother-in-law: Ralph "Spike" McClelland.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Sheryl McClelland .

The funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, August 11, 2017, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the Wellsville First Christian Church officiating.
