Sadie J. Gitschier

WELLSVILLE - Sadie J. Gitschier, 85, of Wellsville, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Crandall Medical Center at Copeland Oaks Retirement Community in Sebring, OH, where she had been a resident since August 2015.

She was born February 5, 1933, in New Salisbury, OH, the daughter of the late Sonny and Ethyl (Eden) Johnson. In addition to her parents, Sadie was preceded in death on February 11, 2009, by her husband, William G. "Bill" Gitschier, whom she married October 5, 1957. She was also preceded in death by five sisters: Minnie Hawk, Myrtle Jarvis, Mabel Erb, Jeanie Johnson, and Beulah Hawk; and two brothers: Homer and William Johnson.

Sadie graduated from Wellsville High School in 1951. She had been employed for thirty years as the income tax commissioner for the village of Wellsville. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wellsville.

Survivors include two daughters: Cristole Stevens and her husband, Terry, of Wellsville, and Tracy Malone of East Liverpool; and two sisters: Emily Watson of Wellsville and Arona Grimm of Plano, TX.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church officiating.

Burial will be in Highlandtown Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
