Steven James Poynter

WELLSVILLE - Steven James Poynter, 62, of Wellsville, died Sunday, May 15, 2016, at UPMC Mercy Hospital of an apparent heart attack.

He was born March 2, 1954, in East Liverpool, the son of Patricia (Barth) Poynter of Wellsville and the late Donald Poynter.

Steve graduated from Wellsville High School in 1972 and worked for the Laborers Union 809 in Steubenville before retiring. He had worked in the street department for the Village of Wellsville until his death. He was a member of American Legion Post 70 and the Moose Lodge 122.

Survivors include his wife, Shelly M. (Elliott) Poynter, whom he married August 12, 2006; two daughters: Maria Pugliano of Wellsville and Ashley Aughinbaugh and her husband, Kris, of Houston, TX; one son: Jeremy Pugliano and his wife, Jennifer, of East Liverpool; five sisters: Vickie Thompson of Leetonia, Karen Taylor and her husband, James, of Streetsboro, Debbie Jackson and her husband, Randy, of Wellsville, Paula Reiner and her husband, Bill, of Wellsville, and Amy Dalrymple and her husband, Frank, of Wellsville; and four grandchildren: Nikolai Baronski, Macie Jones, Liam Pugliano, and Avery Aughinbaugh. Also surviving is Steve's beloved pet dog, Molly.

In addition to his father, Steve was preceded in death by his two granddaughters: Emma and Maiya Lewis.

Visitation for Steve will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
