CHESTER - Thaddeus C. "Ted" Salajczyk, 96, of Chester, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at The Orchards/Pepperberry Suites. where he resided since November.

He was born March 5, 1927, in Erie, Pennsylvania, the son of the late George and Agnes (Pilarski) Salajczyk. In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death on December 8, 2019, by his wife, Barbara J. (McLain) Salajczyk, whom he married May 31, 1952. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jesse G. Salajczyk, who was killed in action in World War II, and his sister, Marie Viau. Ted was very proud of being recognized as a Gold Star Family due to his brother's passing.

Ted graduated from Technical Memorial High School in Erie in 1945. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946 and was stationed in Germany. Ted was previously employed as a printer for the East Liverpool Review and Steubenville Herald Star, and he retired as an expeditor for Penn Power. He was a member of Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Janis (Jim) Kell of Chester, grandson, Eric (Melissa) Kell of Chester; great-grandchildren: Dylan (Casey) Kell of Chester and Sydney (Steven) Murray of Zelienople, PA; and great-great-grandchildren: Riley and Landon Kell of Chester, and Hayes Murray of Zelienople, PA. Also surviving are his special cousin, Melody Smith; extraordinary caregiver, Verna Gray; and furbaby, Zoey.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Father John Neiman officiating.

Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
