WELLSVILLE - Thomas Nelson Grafton, Jr., 79, of Wellsville, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at home surrounded by his children.

Tom was born in Hammondsville, OH on October 12, 1944, a son of the late Evelyn (Boyle) and Thomas Grafton, Sr. He was a 1962 graduate of Stanton High School. Tom served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966. He worked at Homer Laughlin China Company for forty-four years as a production supervisor until he retired in 2012. Tom was also a member of the of Wellsville First Baptist Church where he started the Mens Fellowship Breakfast and sang in the Mens choir. He was also a member of the East Liverpool Community Resource Center where he served on the board and was an avid contributor.

Tom was preceded in death by his son, Troy Lamont Carter; brother, Jack Grafton; and wife, Esther.

Left to carry on his legacy are his daughter, Erica (Sam) Carter, sons: Jon Carter and Shawn "Finny" (Miranda) Carter, all of Wellsville, and son, Terry Grafton of CT; grandchildren: Mitchell Kemper, Casey Carter, Kallee Powell, Troy Carter, Camden Douglas, Stakya Sallis, Colton Carter, Chasten Carter, Noah Grafton, Haley Grafton, Menina Jackson, and Courtlynn Jackson; as well as ten great-grandchildren. Tom is also survived by his sister, Karen Vogt, and lifelong friend, Wilbur Waggoner.

The family would like to thank Ed Spicer, Lezlie Carter, Derrick Spann, Wellsville First Baptist Church, Elevate Ministries, Wellsville Police Department and Fire Department, Roberts Funeral Home, and Nikki Greathouse for being there for Mr. Grafton.

Per Tom's wishes, a private ceremony will be held at Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville, officiated by Rev. Roylin Petties.
