Thomas Edward Shannon

WELLSVILLE - Thomas Edward Shannon, 69, of Wellsville, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

He was born July 19, 1946, in Wellsville, the son of the late Frederick L. and Jean Marion (Saunders) Shannon.

Tom served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He was preceded in death on April 21, 2013, by his wife, Stella Louise (Wright) Shannon, whom he married December 16, 1963. In addition to his wife and parents, Tom was preceded in death by one daughter: Tammy Hayes; one sister: Loretta Joy; and two brothers: Robert L. Shannon and James L. Shannon.

Survivors include two daughters: Malissia Shannon of Wellsville and Stella Willis of Columbiana; two sons: Thomas Shannon of Wellsville and Brian Shannon of Marion, OH; one sister: Alberta Hobbs of Tennessee; and one brother: James Leroy Shannon of East Liverpool. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm on Monday, January 4, 2016, at the Wellsville Alumni Center, 201 Third Street.

Burial will be held at a later date in Hammondsville Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded.

Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville is entrusted with Tom's arrangements.
