Verna Lee (Hoal) Berry

SEBRING - Verna Lee (Hoal) Berry, 84, of Sebring, formerly of Wellsville, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020, at her home.

She was born November 22, 1935, at home in East Liverpool. Verna Lee was the daughter of the late J. Vernon and Ila (Harmon) Hoal. In addition to her parents, Verna Lee was preceded in death by her siblings: Jeanne Brandt, Ronald Sanford, Paula Partlow, and Donald Hoal; her special sister-in-law, Ruth Sanford; her step-children: Ray Berry, Jr. and Missy Berry; and her grandson, Christian Berry.

Verna Lee graduated from Wellsville High School in 1954. She was employed as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk at the former Sterling China Company, HK Porter, and Swank Refractories. Verna Lee enjoyed working with her many co-workers. She was a member of Second Church of Christ in East Liverpool where she was active as a Sunday School teacher and member of the choir.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Berry, whom she married November 27, 1985; and one sister, Judy (Carl) McDevitt of Wellsville. As grandma and aunt, Verna Lee was dearly loved and will be missed by her seven grandchildren including her granddaughter, Brooke Moore and her husband, Brian, and their children, four great-grandchildren, eleven nieces and nephews, twenty-one great-nieces and great-nephews, seventeen great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, and four great-great-great-nieces and great-great-great-nephews.

Friends and family may call from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, October 16, 2020, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to adhere to social distancing guidelines, the number of people in the funeral home at one time will be limited. Also, as mandated by Governor Mike DeWine, face masks are required to be worn while in the funeral home.

A private family service will be held. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery where an outdoor committal service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
