Virginia W. Hooper

JACKSONVILLE - Virginia W. Hooper, 99, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Wellsville, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019, at Opis Riverwood Center in Jacksonville.

She was born October 28, 1919, in Henderson, WV, the daughter of the late Roy and Ida Mae (Moore) Mayes. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death on August 27, 1998, by her husband, James Hooper, whom she married February 7, 1945. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, one daughter, Beverly Barnes; and two sons: Larry and James Hooper.

Survivors include two daughters: Patsy Lawyer of Phenix City, AL, and Shirley Grimm of Woodward, OK; two sons: Michael Hooper of Troy, AL and Ernest Leasure of Jacksonville, FL; and one brother, Walter Mayes of Strasburg, OH. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren.

According to Virginia's wishes, no services will be held.

Burial will be in Hammondsville Cemetery.

Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville was entrusted with Virginia's arrangements.
