Walter Eugene "Gene" Sell

WELLSVILLE - Walter Eugene "Gene" Sell, 88, of Hillcrest Road, Wellsville, died Friday, November 9, 2012, at East Liverpool City Hospital.

He was born June 20, 1924, in Carrollton, OH, a son of the late Theodore and Ruth (Beckley) Sell.

Gene was self-employed and was a machinist by trade. He was also a self-employed mechanic, was owner and operator of the former Sell's Market, Sell's True Value Hardware Store (on Main Street), and Sell's Auto Service and Repair Shop. He retired in 1996.

Gene graduated from Wellsville High School in 1942 and had memberships in the Wellsville Elks Lodge and the VFW. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in East Liverpool.

Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Hazel(Valentine) Sell, whom he married July 3, 1962; three daughters: Linda Howell of East Liverpool, Jane Telzrow and her companion Jim Hall of East Liverpool, and Diane Corbin and her husband Rich of Wellsville; three sons: Richard "Dick" Sell and his wife Vicki of Cocoa, FL., David Sell and his wife Bonny of Wellsville, and Robert Sell of Sebastian, FL.; two sisters: Agnes Sell and Mary Green both of East Liverpool; four brothers: Herb Sell of East Liverpool, Charles Sell of East Liverpool, Thomas Sell of Belleview, Neb., and Robert Sell of Toronto.

There are 11 grandchildren: Richard Sell II, Julie (Kenny) Sayre, James Howell, Thomas (Anita) Betz , Cori Telzrow, Cacey Corbin, Ashley (Brent) Cunningham, Kiley (Shane) Rose, Kami Jo Sell, Andrew (Amber) Sell, and Becky (Andy) Cole; 14 Great Grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Gene was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Curtis, and three brothers, John, Ron and Roy.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at 11:00 am at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street, Wellsville, with Pastor Eric Edwards of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and up until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to St. John Lutheran Church, 400 Hill Boulevard, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920.
