William R. Call

WELLSVILLE - William R. Call, 92, of Wellsville, died Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at Salem Regional Hospital.

He was born June 3, 1922, in East Liverpool, the son of the late John and Sylvia (Hyatt) Call.

Bill graduated from Wellsville High School in 1940. He served in the U. S. Army in the infantry in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theaters, where he earned a Bronze Star Medal and two Bronze Battle Stars during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 70. Bill was employed for 41 years as a decorator for the former Sterling China Company, before retiring in 1981.

Survivors include one daughter: Tonda Bratt and her husband, Bill, of Highlandtown; one son: William Call, Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Wellsville; grandson, Shawn Bratt of Wellsville; granddaughter, Courtney Bratt of Wellsville; grandson, Robert Call of Wellsville; grandson, Beau Call of Wellsville; great-granddaughter, Susan Bratt; great-grandson, William Bratt; great-granddaughter, Meghan Call; and great-grandson, Branden Call.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death on May 31, 2008, by his wife, Wanda Jean (Long) Call, whom he married December 29, 1941. Also preceding him in death were his granddaughter, Randi Call, sister, Laura Kidd, brother, Elmer Call, and brother, Jack Call.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 31, 2014, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Call officiating. The Tri State Burial Group will accord full military honors.

Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
