William Howard Hughes

WELLSVILLE - William Howard Hughes, 93, of Wellsville, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at home.

He was born October 18, 1920, in Wellsville, the son of the late Orville and Aline (Montgomery) Hughes.

Bill graduated from Wellsville High School in 1939, and he served in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed as a jiggerman at the former Sterling China Company before retiring in 1982.

Survivors include his wife, Betty (Fishback) Hughes, whom he married July 19, 1947; two daughters: Helen Hughes and Jennifer Bailey, both of Wellsville; and three sons: Robert Hughes and his wife, Shelia, of Fort Worth, TX, Richard Hughes and his wife, Mary, of Fort Worth, TX, and Randy Hughes of Parkersburg, WV. Also surviving are four grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his daughter: Mary Beth Hughes; his son: William O. Hughes; and his sister: Mary Barnett.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Roberts Funeral Home with retired minister Jeff Seigler officiating.

Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
