William I. Kiddey

WELLSVILLE - William I. Kiddey, 87, of Wellsville, passed away Friday, December 21, 2018, at Calcutta Health Care Center.

He was born June 12, 1931, in Wellsville, the son of the late Robert and Pearl (Thompson) Kiddey. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death on September 25, 1987, by his wife, Loretta J. (Grindle) Kiddey, whom he married July 30, 1955. He was also preceded in death by his companion, Verla Detchon; one sister, Elizabeth Wellington; one brother, Robert Kiddey; and one granddaughter, Taylor Champ.

Bill graduated from Wellsville High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. He was employed as a metalurgical progress observer for the former Crucible Steel Mill. Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM #180 and the Wellsville Eagles Aerie 772. He was also a member of the Wellsville First Christian Church.

Survivors include three daughters: Karen Williams and her husband, George, of Wellsville, Kathryn Kiddey of Wellsville, and Karole Champ of Wellsville; and one son, Frank Kiddey and his wife, Lynn, of Wellsville. Also surviving are six granddaughters: Erika Williams, Emily Du Vall, Kaela Champ, Karah Champ, Marissa Kiddey, and Maranda Kiddey; one grandson: Jaden Kiddey; and two great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons.

The funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, December 23, 2018, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the church officiating.

Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
